Step by Step instructions to create a registered letter

Below is a format for a registered Letter. It is as simple as a normal Letter with just a few additions.

1. Always use high standard paper for your Letter. White linen is a good example and along with many other types, is available in the likes of Easons or Reads at a cost of €5 or so for twenty sheets. This is a good investment in more ways than one. Your Letter will be much noticed and have more impact than you may realise.

2. Keep the contents as short and to the point as possible. If you are requesting an answer on an issue, be as direct and to the point as possible. This gives the Department, Judge, Minister Etc. no ‘elbow’ room to wander off the subject and reply to you with semantics and non relevant waffle in an attempt to fob you off in the hope that you give up and go away.

3. Always right to a Person and not just a Title or a Department. In other words, don’t address your question or inquiry to, ‘The Manager’ or Judge Etc. Address it to Mr. Joe Bloggs Minister for Lies and deceit, Department of corruption, Govt. Buildings, Spin Street, Sin City 2. Always give them their full title and position of responsibility. Do enter their credentials, where relevant, before or after their names like Professor or Judge or PhD or B.L. etc. If they swore an Oath or take title or an office of position, they are duty bound to fulfil that position in the upmost manner. The People may hold them to account if they fail to do their job.

4. Type REGISTERED MAIL above the date and you may use an ‘Our ref: / ‘Your ref: if you wish.

5. You can sign off as Yours sincerely, Truly, Constitutionally or other above a line above your printed Name.

5. Photocopy the Letter and file. You may also wish to cover copy it to another Person by placing C.c. at the end followed by their Name.
